Y-Strap Adjustment
Y-Strap Decompression
How Does the Chiropractic Y-Strap Adjustment Work?
The Y-Strap adjustment works by stretching the spine pulling the head in the Y-Axis of the body. This pulling force generates a decompression in the vertebral discs.
The Y-Strap is used for stretching purposes with slow and smooth stretching motion, but some doctors prefer to apply a HVLA (High Velocity, Low Amplitude) movement. This is when the Y-Strap applies an “adjustment” to the user.
The High Velocity Low Amplitude procedure generates a swift decompression within the vertebrae discs that generates vacuum, enabling nutrients to flow into the discs.
The great advantage in using the Y-Strap to mobilize the spine is the straight angle and non-existent torsion of the procedure to reduce spinal compression and muscle stiffness.
Glenwood Chiropractic is one of the few chiropractic offices in the Raleigh Durham NC area who performs the Y Strap Adjustment. A complete and thorough evaluation is preformed beforehand. If we decide it is necessary to use the Y Strap, we will. Prior to the adjustment, the spine and muscles will be warmed with appropriate modalities and correct any rotational abnormalities.
The Y Strap is a device that fits around the base of the skull/chin that allows for the spine to be stretched. This type of “stretch” is called spinal traction. In other words, the Y Strap allows us to “pull apart” the segments in your spine to release any tension within them. To do this, a quick pull at the perfect time to achieve the desired results is performed.
